After years of delays, I am proud to announce that Athena is finally Interlude.

I can say that ES is the oldest private L2 server still open. We have also been open longer than any other L2 server. Although we haven't been in our prime in awhile, with your help, we will be able to become one of the greatest servers again.

Since opening Eternal Sin in November 2005, it's always been my goal to provide you all with a quality server to play on. A server that was stable, fun to play on, and to be as professional as possible. I am sad to announce that have wiped the database as Athena has moved to Interlude. The main reason being due to excessive items accumulated over 3 years on a high rate server. There are more reasons but, in general, I felt it would be a good way to start over fresh.

Everyone that is concerned about their donations, please look for a forum post in a couple hours. It will answer all your donation questions and how soon your donation items and AIO will be replaced.

The server will be down until 12pm CST (-6 GMT). Until then, please download the newest version of the system folder. You will not be able to connect to the server until you download the newest system folder.

Update

If you are having GameGuard errors, you need to run L2.exe in "XP compatibility mode". To do this, you will need to follow the steps below.

Turn XP compatibility mode on
1. Right click l2.exe
2. Click properties
3. Go to the compatibility tab
4. Select run this program in compatibility mode
5. Make sure you select XP
6. Select run this program as administrator

I'll make this pretty quick and as painless as possible.

I apologize for the longer-than-normal downtime but I am backing up the databases of Athena and moving them to the test server to make sure everything transfers properly. If everything goes smooth, we should be going Interlude by Sunday at the latest. Possibly even sooner.

I will keep you all posted on the progress.

Please download the system folder to connect to Athena when we switch to Interlude. At the moment, this system folder will direct you to our test server, but as soon as we go live, you will be able to connect to Athena.

Note: Players using Windows Vista, Windows Vista x64, or Windows XP x64 will need run l2.exe in "XP Compatability" mode. For instructions on how to do this, please wait for detailed instructions to be posted on the website.

I would like to encourage everyone to begin downloading Interlude as soon as possible. When Athena goes Interlude, we will most likely wipe adena, ancient adena, runes, shards, experience, and SP. The first couple of days, there will be a rate increase so people can level up their chars and explore the new areas, but after that period, experience rates will return to normal.

Friday through Sunday, we will be migrating Athena's database to the test server for final testing. After the testing, all Interlude files will be moved to Athena and you will be required to login with an Interlude client.

I have uploaded the interlude client but before I made the link public, I would like to know if anyone has any public hosts that that I could upload the client to. I will also setup a torrent for the client so as many people can get it as quickly as possible.

This will be my final "Interlude is coming" thread. For a little over a year, we have been promising everyone updates will be made and things will change. Evidently, they havent - yet.

Starting this week, there will be regular posts regarding the updates and progress made towards Athena moving to Interlude. The server will also undergo quite a few internal changes to spur productivity to help facilitate a precide launch date for the Interlude udpate. I believe, when given the proper help, I can release a suitable Interlude update within the next couple of weeks.

The first step would be hiring new staff to help GM and moderate the forum. Following that, I will, a long with some familiar names, will begin regular testing to help finalize a proper Interlude update package that the community will be satisfied with. I'm not going to release anymore information, in the meantime, until each task is completed.

After a long, grueling process we finally have all the proper, working files (Thanks Nate!). It is my pleasure to say that Athena will be going Interlude in less than 14 days.

I apologize for being out of the loop for so long, but I hope the end result more than makes up for the lack of updates and inactive staff of ES. Something mono and I never pictured for this server because it was this same reason why we created ES almost 3 years ago. We will strive to help get the server back on its feet and deliver you, the community, continous updates and satisfactory support.
