Client and Server Update (Download Needed)

Since the last update we have been working quietly on the test server. Before you all can take advantage of the new updates you will need to download the client update or the new system folder. Included in this latest update is, a new automatic team versus team event system and several sever fixes related to skills and classes.

Automatic Team VS Team Event

New to Eternal Sin, the auto TvT event is a new way to PVP with a small, organized 3 or 5 man team. The goal is to promote team-based PVP in an effort to stimulate a new gaming experience otherwise not yet found on other servers. I believe that events like this will help keep the game play fresh on the server. A brief explanation of the event is listed below.

  • Where: Giran Castle Town (Event Manager)
  • When: Anytime
  • How: Sign up with a three (3) or five (5) man party at the Event Manager.

During the event, the goal is simple, the first party to successfully cast Incantation of Valor onto the NPC in the middle of the Coliseum, wins the event. The winners of the event temporarily will receive 1 adena along with 1 Trophy of Valor item that will be used to track how many events a person has one. As soon as I finish the event reward system this week, you all will start to receive the proper rewards instead of 1 adena.

I hope you all enjoy this new update.

Hellbound is now on torrent

To save on bandwidth resources, I have decided to remove the Hellbound client from our servers and host them via torrent. I will add other torrents, but this will be an alternate method to those who still need to download Hellbound.

Remember, to download this you will need to use a bit torrent program. I suggest using a lightweight program called utorrent. If you all can, please help seed this so others can use this method to obtain the Hellbound client to play on Athena.

Thanks!

Hellbound Beta Ending

Today is the last day of Hellbound Beta. Those that helped out with reporting bugs on the forum will receive a special item from me. Next week we will kick off some events finally. What kind of events would you all be interested in?

Check this post again tomorrow for the client update.

Planned server downtime

In about 8 hours, I will get word from the datacenter when our new cabinet will be available. Upon verification, I will leave for Dallas and perform routine maintenance on our machines which will result in downtime between 1-2 hours.

As I promised earlier, after the maintenance, I will end beta and Hellbound will go live. I can do all this as soon as Thursday but I believe Friday would be a better date. Let me know what you all think. Should Athena go Hellbound Thursday or Friday?

Hellbound Open Beta

In about an hour, the final days of interlude will come to an end. It was a good 6 months but I believe Hellbound will be a better direction for the server. This post will explain what you should expect during open beta and how you can help the server during the open beta.

Where can I download the system folder for Hellbound?

What will happen with my characters?
All your characters and items will be fine. A backup of the database will be made just before we start beta testing for hellbound.

How long will open beta last?
Depending on how many bugs can get fixed, I hope beta will only last a week.

What will happen after open beta?
After open beta, the database will roll back to the end of Interlude. All items and experience gained during open beta will NOT be saved.

How do I help report bugs?
There will be a stickied post in the General Discussion section of the forum dedicated towards reporting bugs, but im sure most of you will just post in the general discussion forum anyway lol.

Are there new hellbound items?
Yes, there are many new weapons, armors, and jewels in hellbound but you will probably not be able to get them during open beta.

Can I donate for new hellbound items?
No, not yet.

Update

The upgrade was a success. I will be monitoring the server over the next couple of days for any database errors, but overall everything seems good.

Hellbound open beta preparation

I received the files about an hour ago and I have been preparing the server to start the hellbound open beta in roughly 12 hours from the time of this post. As soon as I get the proper serial keys from the developer, I will bring the interlude server online for 10-12 hours before hellbound open beta starts.

now, before the beta starts, there are several small things i need to finish that i didnt finish over the weekend. i need to finish the client and a couple of other things but that shouldnt take too long.

thanks for your patience.

Interlude coming to an end

I want to make sure most of you have hellbound downloaded so you will be ready when we make the move in several days. I want to fill you all in on the hellbound transition procedure that will take place this week.

As soon as I receive the hellbound files for our main server, I will switch Athena to hellbound. The planned arrival of the files is tomorrow, December 24, 2009. As soon as I receive the files from our developer, I will do a small amount of database work before I open the server to the public. What comes afterwards is what I am debating on. Would you all rather have a simple, week-long, open beta on Athena starting on the 25th, or would you rather me open the test machine for 25-50 people to help beta test for a week before I transition Athena from interlude to hellbound?

Let me know what you all think.

Hellbound Status Update

Ive made steady progress with hellbound this month and im proud to announce that a several day beta test is right around the corner. im not going to make an entire list of things ive completed but i will give you all a brief summary of whats done and what you all should expect.

  • gm shops have been created from the ground up
  • main towns will be giran, goddard, rune, and kamael village
  • main hunting areas will be abandoned coal mines and imperial tomb chaotic
  • npc buffers will include essential but shortened buffs that will make obtaining buffs while AIOs arent available easier. (AIOs will still be the preferred method of obtaining buffs)
  • general drop rates for runes, blood of chaos and life stones will be higher.
  • raid bosses will be the focal point of farming for pvp related gear to encourage clan activity and an overall better PVE experience.
  • the hellbound attribute system fully works unlike the majority of l2off hellbound servers.

there have been very little class changes with the exception of the bow nerf we added to classes and a slight improved archer nerf that was also in interlude. i didnt add the archer resistance to mages because of their extra matk but if they need it, i will add it to their classes.

  • warlords have the same hp but skills do less damage and will have less effect in pvp.
  • gladiators have significantly less hp than they did during interlude but their running speed has been slightly increased. their sonic blast reuse delay is a bit longer than it was during interlude.
  • daggers will generally be the same.
  • archers damage output will be slightly less than it was in interlude to extend pvp a little more.
  • hellbound saw fit to empower mages with the addition of several self buffs to increase elemental damage and magic attack.

now to let you all know, the only thing holding me back from releasing hellbound are several small issues. im having a small problem with several client files that my client editors dont like so if anyone knows someone who could help me with that, i would greatly appreciate that. my second, and most difficult dilemma would be resolving class issues that a brief open beta should fix.

also, please dont message me about testing. if you would be interested in helping just say so in this thread and if i need your help, i will contact you.
